About ERFP

The European Regional Focal Point for Animal Genetic Resources (ERFP) is the regional platform to support the in situ and ex situ conservation and sustainable use of animal genetic resources (AnGR) and to facilitate the implementation of FAO’s Global Plan of Action for AnGR. Since 2001, ERFP facilitates the collaboration, coordination of work and exchange of information and experience between different European countries and governmental and non-governmental organisations.

ERFP operates under Terms of Reference with an operational structure agreed by the National Coordinators for AnGR in Europe.

ERFP has a Multi-Year Programme of Work (MYPoW) for a four-year period and an . The current MYPoW is operational for the period of 2024 – 2027.

The ERFP network developed an Animal Genetic Resources strategy for Europe and elaborated an Action Plan. It aims to streamline the actions to be adopted by the European countries to ensure the long-term availability and use of AnGR.

 

One of the main feature of the ERFP network is that our General Assembly generally preceed the EAAP congress and is held in the same city as EAAP. EAAP
